Paladin & Other Weird Tales is almost a finished product, and if all goes well it should be published by the end of the week. The collection consists of seven stories ranging from humorous and lighthearted to dark and horrifying. In the title story, a woman has vivid nightmares of horrible crimes. As she unravels the truth, she loses track of reality and comes face-to-face with the evil behind her dreams – her own twin.
After this I’ll get to work on the next collection, tentatively titledPatchwork Fable & Other Tales. My goal from now on is to release a new collection/novel/something every first week of the month. No more months-long stretches of nothing produced! Or at least published…
I also will begin preliminary work on rewriting Vox Banjo. I hope to have a new outline, updated character sketches, more fleshed out setting, and – gasp! – a better plot. The actual rewrite will happen in August/September. This novel features Vicki Meyers – the backwards oracle/private eye who sees only the past, armed with a psychically enchanted banjo – investigating a crime involving… well, originally the Kensington Runestone, but I may throw that plot element out and recycle it elsewhere. (The KRS became too much of a McGuffin for its own good.)
The rest of my month will be devoted to cow tipping coming up with more kick-ass ideas to be converted to novels and short stories, add more entries to my Road Less Blocked series on LiveJournal, and continue the Tales from the Square serial here.
As is tradition for the Motherly Goats post, I wanted to leave you with some music. Unfortunately I couldn’t decide which video to use. Fortunately, I’m posting both videos.

Def Leppard and Taylor Swift – never thought I’d see that combo…
Ya, no kidding… That said, Tim McGraw sang on DL’s album “Songs from the Sparkle Lounge”.
Not exactly what I would have considered a DL album title either… Sparkle Lounge is more like BeeGees or Buble
Wow, the cover looks fantastic! Did you design it yourself? I also like the title. Good job on getting more motivated to put more out there!
Thank you!
The photograph comes from BigStockPhoto.com, from a contributor known as DNF Style. I designed the cover using GIMP 2 (poor man’s Photoshop). Unfortunately, I have to redo it to bring it up to Smashwords’ new standards, but that is more or less what the finished product will look like.
